What a hijamah visit looks like
If this is your first time, here is what happens, so nothing is a surprise.
Before you come
Eat a light meal two to three hours ahead and drink plenty of water. Wear something loose that opens at the back. Mention any medication, pregnancy or health conditions when you book.
During the session
We talk through how you're feeling, then place the cups for a few minutes. For wet cupping, tiny surface scratches are made and the cups go back on briefly. Most people describe a tight pulling feeling.
Afterwards
Rest for the day, keep the area covered and warm, and skip the gym and hot showers for 24 hours. The round marks fade over about a week.
Sample henna designs
Six styles to help you point to what you have in mind. These are illustrations of each style. Every design is drawn freehand on the day, so yours will be your own.

How your henna darkens
Natural henna doesn't show its real color on day one. It starts bright and deepens for two days, so book your appointment two to three days before the event.
- Paste comes offA bright pumpkin orange. This is normal.
- 12 hoursWarming to a russet as it meets the air.
- 24 hoursA rich red-brown.
- 48 hoursDeepest color. Lasts one to two weeks.
- Leave the paste on for at least four hours, overnight if you can.
- Scrape, don't wash. Keep water off it for the first 12 hours.
- Stay warm. A little natural oil before showering protects the stain.

Common questions
Who do you see?
HijamaHenna is for women only. Appointments are private and one at a time.
Does hijamah hurt?
Most people feel a firm pulling when the cups go on and a light scratching for wet cupping. It is over quickly, and you can ask to stop at any point.
Who should check with a doctor first?
Please speak to your doctor if you are pregnant, anemic, diabetic, have a bleeding disorder or take blood-thinning medication. Mention it when you book and we will advise whether to go ahead.
How often should I come?
It depends on why you're coming. We'll talk about what makes sense for you at your first visit.
Is the henna natural?
Yes. Only natural henna is used, never black henna. If you have sensitive skin or have reacted to essential oils, say so when you book.
What if I need to cancel?
Message as early as you can, ideally a day ahead, so the slot can go to someone else.
